[Foto] Londra, Sherlock Holmes è il vicino di casa di Giuseppe Mazzini
Holmes and Watson give their address as 221b Baker Street, but exterior shots were actually filmed a half-mile north-east in North Gower Street, where filming conditions are quieter. […] Had Holmes and Watson lived here in their canonical late-Victorian period, they might have heard tales of their late neighbour Giuseppe Mazzini, the Italian exile and patriot who once lived next door.
Precisa la voce su Mazzini di Wikipedia:
On May 28, 1834 Mazzini was arrested at Solothurn, and exiled from Switzerland. He moved to Paris, where he was again imprisoned on July 5. He was released only after promising he would move to England. Mazzini, together with a few Italian friends, moved in January 1837 to live in London in very poor economic conditions. He resided at a property on North Gower Street near Euston Square [e aggiunge quella su Gower Street] (at the time, 9 George Street) together with Italian poet and patriot Giovanni Ruffini, his brother Agostino Ruffini and Angelo Usiglio, living there for three years until 1840.
